Our team at University of San Agustin had a 6D/7N research expedition in the heart of Sulu Sea. The two ultra-beautiful huge atolls of the Tubbataha Reefs National Park are revelations of immense diversity and overwhelmingly rich marine biosphere. It is a nexus of life, a mecca for divers, and a biological wonder of the world. Thus, it was declared as the World Heritage Site in 1993 by UNESCO.
We are privileged to explore the marine park for scientific undertakings and we are beaming with pride to carry University of San Agustin at this rare opportunity to conduct research at our National Treasure. As DOST Balik Scientist, I am extremely pleased to lead this scientific investigations and thrilled for the outcomes and findings of this project as it unfolds.
Many thanks to National Research Council of the Philippines for the research grant; Tubbataha Protected Area Management Board for giving us clearance and allowing us to explore the park; Mrs. Angelique Songco and her team at Tubbataha Management Office for their assistance and support; Mr. Segundo Corales and Marine Park Rangers as our guides and safeguards; and Mr. David Choy of M/Y PalauSport and his staff and crew for the impeccable service and for making our expedition to Tubbataha Reefs a memorable lifetime live-aboard experience.
